How to set up email on your iPhone or Android

Updated September 27, 2026 · 1 min read

iPhone or iPad

  1. Open Settings → Apps → Mail → Mail Accounts → Add Account. (Older iPhones: Settings → Mail → Accounts.)
  2. Pick Google, Microsoft Exchange/Outlook.com, iCloud or Yahoo if that's who provides your email, and sign in.
  3. For business email at your own domain, choose Other → Add Mail Account, enter your name, full email address and password, and choose IMAP.

Android

  1. Open the Gmail app → tap your profile picture → Add another account.
  2. Choose your provider, or Other for business email.

For business email you'll need

  • The incoming (IMAP) and outgoing (SMTP) server, often something like mail.yourbusiness.ca
  • Your full email address as the username
  • Ports 993 (IMAP) and 465 or 587 (SMTP), with SSL/TLS turned on

Choose IMAP, not POP. IMAP keeps your phone, computer and webmail in sync. POP downloads mail to one device and can make it disappear from the others.
