Why is my Wi-Fi slow even though I pay for fast internet?

Usually it is the router's position, an old router, interference, or too many devices on a crowded channel. A wired speed test tells me whether the problem is the Wi-Fi or the service itself.

Do I need a mesh system?

Only if one good router in the right spot cannot cover your space. I will recommend the cheapest thing that actually works.
