Improve your chances

• Use a device you normally sign in on (your phone or home computer), on your home Wi-Fi.
• Answer as best you can. Old passwords you remember help.
• Use your recovery email or phone if you still have it.
• Apple's Account Recovery can take several days. Don't restart the process, because that resets the wait.

Beware of "recovery" scams

People online (including in Facebook comments) offer to recover hacked accounts for a fee. They're scammers. Only use the official pages above.

Prevent it next time

• Keep your recovery phone and email up to date.
• Save your backup codes somewhere safe.
• Add a Recovery Contact (Apple) or a second recovery method.
